This esteemed honor highlights Idowu’s impactful work in integrating hip-hop music, technology, and entrepreneurship to introduce students to the world of STEM.
As a hip-hop artist and mechanical engineer, Damola Idowu’s early passion for music inspired
his pursuit of science and technology. Damola utilized his unique talents and background to inspire Pittsburgh’s youth, creating a new way to bring education to children. Toyz Electronics is a program that engages students to learn new skills and expand their career paths, exposing them to careers in tech and business. Toyz Electronics introduces students to the STEM fields using creative tools like hip-hop and digital media, preparing them for the career world. Toyz Electronics provides a unique, hands-on learning experience, encouraging students to develop skills in coding, design, and business.
